Our Favorite Men's Looks from Concept Korea at New York Fashion Week!

We've only come to expect the absolute best from what is now one of our favorite showings every fashion season. We're talking of course about Concept Korea, a global powerhouse project that does wonders to publicize Korea's growing fashion culture throughout the world. No other group gives us season after season of outstanding designer collections that never cease to wow and leave us wanting more. And this season was no exception as we watched top Korean brands; KIMMY J, GREEDILOUS and YOHANIX present their Fall/Winter 2017 collections at Skylight Studios in Clarkson Square in New York City.

The show, hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), had all three collections take to the runway during New York Fashion Week on February 10th, and featured distinct and different leagues of women's ready to wear. A show of high fashion flare lit up the runway, but of course, our favorites were the handful men's looks that for us, stole the show.

KIMMY J by Heejin Kim

Appropriately titled “Dumpster Disposal Squad”, KIMMY J’s FW/17 collection is inspired by door to door garbage collectors who in a modern world are real every day superheroes, thus the term "Squad" in the title. The comic book like collection took bright and energetic color palettes reminiscent of plastic, metal, and vinyl, and juxtaposed them against achromatic colors.

GREEDILOUS by Younhee Park

Like the 1930’s Salvador Dali painting “The Persistence of Memory,” the GREEDILOUS F/W17 collection uses abstract objects and rhythmic patterns to build the theme of the collection. The men's pieces feature fun and frantic graphics as well as colorful tessellating patterns and images.

YOHANIX by Yohan Kim

'FIRST AID', the FW17 collection from YOHANIX, was inspired by Yohan describes as "the opposition of emotional and monetary value." Though no specific men's looks strutted down the catwalk, we absolutely loved a duo of military-esque jackets; one long coat which featured a no sleeve biker motif at one side, and another bomber jacket with plaid and flower embellishments on the front.
