BMS Favorite! Shop Untitled NYC!

Do you like to shop? Are you looking for interesting and specially crafted pieces? Are you sick of the same old drab department stores? Well at the risk of sounding like an annoying late night infomercial. I've got just the shop for you. It's quickly become one of my favorite sartorial spots in New York City!

Shop Untitled NYC is no mom and pop shop. This NYC gem is located at 27 West 8th Street in the heart of the West Village. The store was established in 1984 and is a collective effort between partners Gapu Suri and Kevin Kelly. Their mutual urge to nurture and support the talent of new and upcoming designers, has had them prescribing style remedies for fashion folk all over New York City and beyond for more than 30 years. I mean these guys were carrying the very first collections of everyone from Alexander McQueen to Martin Margiela to Raf Simmons, just to name a few.

More often than not, stores of this caliber can radiate a certain stench of arrogance. But you won't find any of that at Shop Untitled. After a long day's work, a good friend and I happened to be in the area; desperately searching for a drink (or two, or three), and in the midst of our desperation, noticed an amazing plethora of all black everything, which of course meant we had to stop. Outside the most stylish man, who I assumed was the owner, was having a cigarette. He was dressed in the most amazing pair of oversized black coated cotton shorts(see pic right).

They had just closed, so my friend and I had no choice but to do a little window shopping. But not after striking up some convo with our new friend. Of course he indeed turned out to be Gapu, one of the owners. After reminiscing about old New York, and bombarding him with about a billion questions, he did us the best favor by inviting us in the store graciously allowing us to peruse. Inside we found extraordinary designer collections from international and up and coming men and women's designers. This place has everything. Clothing, footwear, jewelry and accessories. We're talking exceptional brands like D.GNAK by Kang D, Ma Julius (see pic left), and House of Malakai. If you're not familiar, he's the genius behind that amaze-balls head pieces we’ve seen worn by Rihanna on the town and inside the pages of Tush Magazine.
